Hoping everyone (in the US, anyway!) enjoyed their Thanksgiving! Mine was good, an enjoyable day and dinner down at my Mom's... Without getting sappy, and while my life is far from perfect (whose is?) I guess I do have quite a bit to be thankful for, if nothing else in comparison to- too- many folks I know. I have two friends who are dealing with spouses who have been recently diagnosed with serious illnesses, another friend who has a young daughter with cancer, one of the above is also dealing with unending, unrelenting financial difficulties. I have a few other friends who deal with chronic health issues of their own. I know too many folks who struggle with issues surrounding their TGism, be it their own acceptance and peace of mind regarding it, a lack of understanding, if not acceptance, from spouses, children, family, friends, etc... Many lack the mean$, or the confidence, or the companionship, or any venues, to lead a more full life as their TG'd selves should they choose to- social isolation. And of course there are problems in the wider world that we all, to whatever degrees, are affected by. And again, my life is far from perfect; I'd luv to earn a better living than I do, would really luv to have some- any!- more free time than I do. That seemingly never-ending battle with that last 10 lbs... I have my challenges. But they seem to be just that- challenges. And they do seem to pale in comparison to many of the battles too many people I know face. On balance I am blessed, and I am thankful.

Good friends we've had, good friends we've lost
Along the way...

Speaking of good friends I recently re-heard from a very good friend I hadn't heard from in a few years! He seems to be doing quite well up on Cape Ann, in a very good place physically (got himself a nice new pad recently!) as well as emotionally- great to hear from you again, John :) I have been blessed to have known- and to know- so many good people over the years, in all of my walks of life...

Enjoying a Harpoon Chocolate Stout (or two!) as the clock ticks down toward the kickoff of the Pats-Steelers tonight... A busy past couple of weeks; good busy, but still busy... And getting busier (pace my avocation) now that college basketball season has started (off to a profitable start; I find early-season college hoops lines can be weak and more easily exploitable.)

I can't believe Thanksgiving is just about a week and a half away- where did this year go? Yikes... I've mentioned it before but Thanksgiving may be my favorite holiday of the year; I've just always enjoyed it... It's been a pretty nice fall around there this year, the weather and the local foliage have been nice, pretty...

This one has been rattling around in my head the last several days... now it can rattle in yours, too! (A great song)

Some Lessons, Melody Gardot

Some lessons we learn the hard way
Some lessons don't come easy
That's the price we have to pay
Some lessons we learn the hard way
They don't come right off and right easy
That's why they say some lessons learned we learn the hard way
